Busy Weekend

This weekend has been busy!

We've had company since Wednesday night...I'm not complaining, we loved it!

We drove to and from Rexburg on Friday for this pretty girls wedding.

I am also vowing to never stay in a motel with my children again. I think my parents do to.

It is one of my very favorite bestie's BDay today! Christin is entering into the last year of her 20's. She did an awesome post for me on my 30th bday and I wanted to return the favor. Problem is that she is great with her words and feelings...I am not!

We have been friends for over a decade now. I love this girl to pieces and some of my VERY best memories involve her. I'm going to picture montage you with a bunch of my favorites. We are going way back to 2001.

You have to love all of our endless trips to Vegas and Mesquite. For New Years or whatever excuse we could find. We always had fun and there was always a story to tell.

I have no idea what we were thinking but I will always love our memories from the most ridiculous summer school class to ever be taken. Can you believe we spent a day having to dig for fossils. Remember showing up and looking so ridiculous because we were ready to sun tan while everyone else was covered from head to toe.

The camping trip that went along with that class..aaagh! Dumpy thighs and leather face.

Checking out the Utah State campus. We didn't know what snow even was and for some crazy reason I decided it'd be a good idea to move up there.

Schaeffer had his eye surgery and it went great. This is a picture of him in recovery. It was the LONGEST day! The poor boy didn't eat until about 2 that afternoon. When we went for his 2 week follow up the Dr. was really excited about how well he was doing.

This is our the only New Year's picture we have. It was low key this year but I think it was just right.

This is Schaeffer getting to know Santa. He is such a mellow kid. Just sat up there and let us take pictures.

Leighton cheesed it up. She knew all about Santa this year and was excited to see him or talk to him every chance she got. I made her a little Christmas outfit to wear to the Beck family party.

We had some fun with friends in December.

I just realized that about an hour ago I deleted all of the Christmas pictures from my camera. I would be totally devastated other than I know I loaded them on the computer at my mom and dads house. I thought for sure I'd put them on my laptop.

November news

Thanksgiving came and went so quickly. We had a wonderful day. We went to Chad's parents house where his mom cooked a bunch of great food. It was a smaller group than usual but still great company. I did a terrible job documenting with photos. Friday night we went to the Spanish Fork Light Parade. It was cold but fun enough. Leighton has been wanting to go to a parade for some reason so it came at the perfect time. We also did Black Friday shopping at Wal Mart and Macey's at 10pm and midnight and then a whole bunch of stores Friday afternoon. I think we just about have all of our shopping done!

This is was Schaeffer's 1st Thanksgiving. We got a 4 generation picture with his grandma Kay and her parents.

We got family pictures taken at the beginning of November. Leighton was my little model as usual. She smiled and posed and all of her pictures turned out so cute. She is almost 3 years old and is just getting more fun and sassier by the day.

Schaeffer turned 6 months on the 6th of this month. He is still just a big boy. 70% for weight and 90% for height. He has kept me ridiculously busy running back and forth to different Dr appointments. We found out last week that he is going to need eye surgery. Just recently I notice that his eyes had started to not quite match up. I took him to his pediatrician and they told me all was well. That didn't sit super well with me but what do you do. We ended up having to go in again a few days later and I saw his PA who thought it might be a good idea to go see a specialist. I took Schaeff to Primary Children's where the Dr there quickly diagnosed him with left superior oblique palsy of the cranial nerve 4. Basically his muscle is to tight so they have to go in and cut the muscle and reattach it so that hopefully his eyes will match up. In this picture below if you look close at his eyes you can tell that they don't quite match up. Sometimes it is worse than others. We have his surgery planned for the 8th so keep him in your prayers.

Since Schaeff has been able to hold his head up he has always tilted it to one side. We asked the Dr about it but he always said it was just preference. Come to find out the reason he does this is because otherwise the poor little guy has double vision. The picture below is as cute as can be but you can also tell he is tipping his head.

This past Monday we had tubes put in our little buddies ears as well. He has had constant ear infections since about the time he was born. Everything went really well so hopefully this will eliminate the infections for good.

November has had some stresses but we are all so happy and are doing great. We have lots to be thankful for and it really is great to have a holiday dedicated to remembering that.

Halloween!

It isn't quite Halloween yet and I feel like we have been celebrating forever! It has been so much fun! This is probably my favorite time of year by far. We carved pumpkins with the Atwater's for FHE.

This picture was taken at the petting zoo at Thanksgiving Point. We went there with my parents last weekend to enjoy the awesome weather and do some of the fun Halloween activities they had going on.

This past Friday we went to Estrada Farms which was so much fun! Leighton had so much fun with Shay, Jack, and Cason. They had a corn box, maze, jump house, and a train.

This big group is everyone at the Beck Family Halloween Party. McCall planned a fun video scavenger hunt for us. We risked our lives (seriously) waddling across Spanish Fork Main Street. I'll be embarrassed if any of you saw us.

I sure adore these two! I saw Leighton's costume on Pinterest and we just kind of ran with the Wizard of Oz theme from there. I even had Leighton watch it on the internet and she loved it, Especially the Wicked Witch of the West which is where Christin comes in.

Chad and Kim threw a really fun Halloween party this past Friday. Her house was decorated so cute and she had so many fun treats for us all. She did all of this 7 or 8 months pregnant too which I thought was super ambitious!

Our favorite little boy turned 5 months on the 6th of this month. I'm a lucky mom because he is honestly the best natured little boy. He is still a baldy and I can't wait to see if his hair is going to have some curl to it. He is also sitting up all on his own..that is until a certain little girl inevitably somehow seems to knock him over.

Chads parents treated us to a really fun California trip this past week. We had such a great time introducing our kids to all of the fun at Disneyland.

This is the cute little house we stayed in. It was close enough to Disneyland that we could just walk to and from each day. It also had a swimming pool in the backyard we were able to play in.

She was all smiles this whole trip. She had such a fun time hanging out with her aunts and uncles, grandma and grandpa and her 3 cousins.

This is the whole group in the T-Shirts I made them all wear. We got lots of comments and it really did make it easier to find each other in a crowd.

This big guy turned 4 months on the 6th of September. He is a big kid and also the sweetest thing alive!
He was 15 1/2 lbs-63%
He was 26 inches tall -84%
His head circumference was somewhere in the 70% range.
He has 2 bottom teeth in.
He is going to eat me out of house and home.
He sleeps all night long.
He is rolling and scooting everywhere and I know I'm going to be chasing him really soon.

Chad and I turned 30! It's been kind of hard to wrap my head around but we had a great time celebrating. Thanks for everyone that went out of their way to make our birthday's special!

Leighton was in a neighborhood dance class over the summer that met once a week. They had their recital in August. Cutest thing ever! This is her with her wonderful teacher Ashley.

Latest St. George Visit

I'm heading back to work on Monday. I've had the past 3 months off in maternity leave. It has been so great being home with my kids full time. My house seems to be in better order, I'm cooking more, and have been having tons of fun on play dates and little weekend vacations. Hopefully some day I can be a full time SAHM.

I brought the kids down to my parents house for our last long visit for the next while. It ended up being a great weekend because the fair was in town.Thursday we went to the fair. There were no lines at any of the kids rides which was fantastic! I felt a little bad for Leighton having to ride everything by herself so hopefully next year Schaeffer will be big enough to ride with her.

We happened to walk by the registration for the baby contest right as they were packing up. The ladies asked me if I was coming to register my kids. I didn't know anything about it so they talked me into signing up. We had to go back to the fairgrounds Friday morning for a pre qualifying interview and then they called us back that afternoon to let us know we'd made it into the finals so we had to go back again on Saturday for the actual contest.

I thought it ended up being fun. My mom's opinion differed slightly. When it was Leighton's turn to go onstage she hammed it up and was really cute. She waved and blew kisses and I actually had to go pick her up to get her to stop. I wasn't nearly as comfortable having to walk with her up there in front of everyone.This is her with the Wash. County Queen. She got 1st place in her age division and won herself a little trophy and a vinyl growth chart.

Father's Day

Some of the cute girlies at our friend BBQ. We went to Park City for the 4th. The Atwater's let us come watch fireworks on the lawn of their condo. They even shared their glow sticks with us.

Leighton rug burned her face falling into an ottoman the night before.

I didn't buy her an actual 4th of July outfit this year so we just dressed her up in red, white, and blue. We were just getting ready to head to the PC parade.

We were a fan of this little parade. So much more low key and a lot cooler weather made it our favorite.

On Monday night Jason and Kourt had us over for a BBQ and fireworks. This 4th has gone down as one of the best!

We went to Bear Lake with some of our friends for a fun 3 day weekend. We ate so much good food and stayed up all ours of the night talking and playing games. Anyone played Bocci ball? Such a fun group game!Leighton and her Tinkerbell fishing pole.

Memorial Day

We spent our 2nd weekend in a row in St. George

Chad and I did some hiking and biking. This was taken in Snow Canyon on our hike to 3 ponds. Probably wouldn't recommend it. Hiking through deep sand for 3 miles to 3 little mossy puddles isn't my favorite, but for quality time with Chad I guess it was worth it.

My family got in some good baby cuddling.Leighton wore little or no clothes all weekend. It wasn't that warm but compared to Utah County it felt like a heat wave.
We roasted marshmallows in the backyard.
So nice to come to a place where we've got some willing babysitters and warm weather to enjoy!

I went to the Doctor on Thursday and he told me that he was on call for the weekend so if I wanted to be induced he'd do it the next day (Friday the 6th). I was all for it because that allowed us a little bit of time to plan things and for my family to come up for the occasion.
The hospital called us at 5:30am that next morning and told us to be there in an hour. I didn't document my growing belly at all this pregnancy so I had Chad take one right before I changed into my hospital garb. I am 39 weeks and 6 days at this point.
By the time they got me all hooked up and ready to go it was just about 8am. Schaeffer was born at 11:46am. He weighed 7.11 and was 21 inches long. Labor went really quickly. All along my Doctor told me that the second baby would be easier to deliver but I didn't really dare believe him because Leighton was such a nightmare to get out. I only had to push through 4 contractions. He was breach to begin with and did end up having the cord wrapped around his neck and arm loosely but all of those things turned out to be pretty non dramatic.

Leighton got there with my parents right before I delivered him so they were able to come in and meet him as soon as he was cleaned up. She has been so excited for her baby brother to join our family and is doing great as a big sister.

I can't believe how good natured this little guy is. He is calm and mellow and likes to sleep.

We spent this past weekend in Park City and enjoyed perfect weather at the Hogle Zoo. Leighton and Kynslie got to try out their new swimsuits in the motel hot tub.Two weekends ago we went to St. George. Leighton and her cute cousin had an early Easter egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa's because we won't make it down for Easter this year.

We had all of my mom's siblings and their families in town and were able to take some group pictures. This one was taken at the Pasta Factory where we had a girl's lunch to celebrate a couple of birthdays. This is my sis in law, grandma, and mom.

Feb/March

It's been awhile since my last post. We don't have internet at home so it's a little tricky. In Feb. we went to St. George for a visit and to go to the Parade of Homes. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures but this is at Brick Oven with Grandma Anita and Aunt Candice.We attended a wedding this past Friday at the Draper Temple. This picture was taken during the luncheon at Tucano's. It was my first visit to the Tucano's at the Gateway and I thought it was WAY better than the one here in Provo.

On St. Patrick's Day we had our annual green dinner at the Ashby's house. It's a fun tradition that his mom hosts for us every year. This is a picture of Chad and Leighton picking on Mccall which is one of their favorite past times.

This is the group shot minus Jason because he had to head back to work for the night. I'm starting to look blimpish..only about a month and a half to go before this baby is here!
I think this pictures is so sweet of these two. I think he was supposed to be rocking her to bed but mostly they were just playing.
I wish she was smiling and didn't have a runny nose but she is getting so big. Her hair is even starting to fill in which is so exciting to me!
I've known these girls forever and it was fun to get together for a few hours last Saturday for a dinner that Krystal and Makayle made for us.

The BIG 2

Leighton's St. George grandma and grandpa came to visit the weekend before her birthday so we had an early celebration. They brought her a brand new princess bike from her grandma Anita and a Tangled 4 wheeler from them. We also spent some time in SLC and went to the LDS Visitors Center.
We had her birthday dinner at Chilies. They brought her a huge ice cream treat. We celebrated Leighton's 2nd birthday party with a great group of friends and family. Leighton is a pretty lucky girl to be surrounded and loved by so many wonderful people. The theme of her party was of course Cinderella. She has been so excited to wear the Cinderella dress we let her pick out at the Disney store and she looked just like the real deal.

MLK Day

Everyone was off work yesterday for Martin Luther King day except Chad so we made a family trip to Midway to see the ice castles so he could join us. We told Leighton they were Cinderella's castles and she was in Heaven.

Christmas Catch-Up

We had such an awesome Christmas holiday. Everyone from Grandmas and Grandpas to aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends made everything so special and fun...especially for Leighton. It's so fun to have her energy and excitement around this time of year. She is officially a Princess. She got so much fun dress up things, and anything and everything to do with Cinderella and the Disney Princesses. She's still in heaven with it all and wants to start playing the second she wakes up. We did an early Christmas with the Ashby family and also had a Christmas Eve breakfast with them that was so good.

Leighton is quite the jumping bean so her grandma and grandpa got her a little trampoline she can keep inside.

We spent the rest of the weekend in St. George with all of my family. Pretty much everyone was around this year so that was fun. Leighton has a cousin that is about a month older than her so they had a blast playing with each other.

This is Chad's gun safe that we are going to keep in our bedroom. Watch out intruders!

This is a picture of our 2nd Annual Christmas Shindig. We had a good dinner, the boys watched basketball, and the girls chatted while the kids ran around. Beautiful Rachel got married and we were able to spend most of her special day with her. Her reception was one of the prettiest I've ever been to. The Durfey's treated us to a Jazz game.
This is a picture I had to throw in because I think it's so cute. It sums up Leighton's personality pretty well. She's a fun and spunky almost 2 year old.

Halloween Festivities

We really got our Halloween fill this year. 4 days of it to be exact. I think the little devil costume is about worn out. It's got dirt, leaves, food, candy and chocolate milk all over it at this point.
Thursday: i brought Leighton over to my work to trick or treat and show her off. She got to run around with some of her little friends.

Friday: We went to our ward party and did some trunk or treating. Afterwards we had some buddies come over to our house to hang out. There was not a lot of cooperation when it came to taking pictures. They just wanted to play!

Saturday: We went to Chili's to eat with some friends. I wish I would have taken Brian Cole's picture but all I got was a grumpy shot of our pretty princess.

Sunday: Chad's mom and aunt's put together a fun Halloween party at his grandmas house. Everyone dressed up and played some games.

We had a few sneak out a little early but this is most of the scary group.

5 years down!

Chad and I celebrated 5 years of marital bliss this weekend. For 5 years I thought we ought to do a little more than the norm so we booked a night at the Trump Hotel in Vegas. The room was awesome and I hope that someday we'll stay there again.

We ate ourselves sick at buffets all weekend. You can buy a wristband that gets you into 7 different buffets on the strip. This is a picture at the Paris but I think our favorite was Cesar's Palace.

We had such a fun weekend and it was nice having a teeny break from our little one to just be together the 2 of us.

My man turned 29 today which means I turn 29 on Monday. I can't believe how fast life just flies by. I'm grateful for Chad and am grateful that I have him in my life. Here are 29 random things about him.

29. He has to be in bed by 10:30 or else. Anyone that knows him knows how true this is.

28. To this day he still sleeps with his baby blanket.

27. We've had our dog for almost 4 years and he still hates that he's in our house but he still loves him and takes good care of him.

26. He can't stand for our grass to be long...I think he gets that from his dad.

25. He has run his own business for about 6 years now.

24. Chad will not eat fruit at all.

23. He served his mission in Paraguay and speaks Spanish when he has too.

22. He talks to his friends every single day.

21. Chad religiously goes to the gym 5 days a week...I know he gets this from his mom.

20. He is a morning person and I'm so jealous.

19. I think he is witty. Some (Joe & Brian) might not agree.

18. He's got a great body. I especially love his shoulders.

17. He is an avid hunter but I think he likes buying all of the hunting stuff more than the actual hunting.

16. He makes great scrambled eggs.

15. Loves to make poppy seed muffins on Sunday mornings.

14. He does all the laundry.

13. He is a fun daddy!

12. Chad has a great head of hair...He gets this from my dad ;)

11. I love that Chad will support me in anything I want to do.

Friday and Saturday were full of fun get togethers with friends and old classmates. I came to St. George with Kelly, Rachel, and Kati for our 10 year reunion. On Saturday we got together with some old friends I haven't seen in a good 8 years at the Pasta Factory.

We had an awesome turnout for our 10 year reunion.

I have been friends with these girls forever and just really love them lot's!
Kelly was nice enough to come down with and take care of Leighton for me.

I can't believe we are getting so close to 30, I still feel about 23.
We've also had a lot of visitors this week which we've loved. These are some of my fun cousins visiting from St. George.

Busy July

Chad is outdoors as much as possible. He makes the most out of every hour of the day. These are pictures from a couple hikes he's been on lately.

The highlight of my July has got to be my girls trip to Miami. It's been 10 years since I graduated high school and that was the last time I took a real vacation with friends. The timing just happened to be perfect and I had such a blast with these girls. Hopefully it's not another 10 years before we do it again.

We pierced Leighton's ears. I had my mom, grandma, and two aunts come along for moral support. She was brave and looks so cute with her little diamond studs.
Most of June and a lot of July were spent planning and preparing for Jason and Kourtney's big day. It turned out beautiful and everything went off without a hitch. We are so excited to have Kourtney a real part of our family now!

Saturday we attended Chad's 10 year class reunion. This was the only picture of the night I took. It turned out so fun and Chad even won a custom suit from the Suit Guys in American Fork.

This big girl went to nursery for the first time today. She walked in and didn't look back. Chad and I almost didn't know what to do with ourselves in our classes because we are so used to entertaining her.

We had a really fun extended weekend. It wasn't to busy and it wasn't to slow.Us and the Durfs out to eat on Friday night.

On Saturday we met the Spencer's for a BBQ and then we walked over to the stadium to listen to Carrie Underwood and watch fireworks. 3 patriotic girls. None of them would look at me for a picture.On Sunday we went up Spanish Fork Canyon for a BBQ with Chad's family

Today Chad went on an early morning hike with his brother. We went swimming that afternoon with Jason and Nort and then Kim and Chad invited us over to have dinner at their place. The kids had a blast running around and swimming in the kiddie pool.

Chad has found a new love in mountain biking. He goes whenever he can. This is a picture of a fun trip he took to Moab with Brian, TJ, Brook and Kim.

Chad made Mother's Day weekend a lot of fun. On Sunday we rode our bikes on the back roads from Spanish Fork to Payson to visit his aunt and then went over to his grandmas for a big family dinner.

I thought this was a great picture of Kay and McCall. McCall will be leaving us for the summer at the end of this month to go to El Salvador and we sure are going to miss her.

It was fun having Amanda and her family in town for a week. This was taking pictures the night before they left.

A few weeks ago Leighton and I went with the Ashby family on a trip to San Fransisco for a few days. It was Leighton's first time flying.

We took a boat over to Alcatraz Island the first day we got there.

I went to Vegas with my baby and parents for a few days. We had a fun time sight seeing on the strip, shopping, and eating out. I thought we'd do lots of swimming but baby was kind of sick so we skipped that for the most part. We discovered that she really travels well with a video on she can watch. Chad and I might have to invest in one of those.

We went to St. George for Easter. It was a pretty fun, eventful weekend. Leighton did 3 Easter egg hunts. 1 at the Washington City park, 1 at my parents house, and one at my grandmas house.

We decided a few weeks ago with some friends that we wanted to do something fun for the long weekend. Chad even worked it out so that we could leave Thursday night instead of Friday after work. This never happens so I was pretty excited. St. George is the easiest place to go because we have a place to stay and a willing babysitter. This is a picture of Leighton and Jack getting ready to go on their first bike ride in STG. On Saturday the girls went to the Parade of Homes and the boys went mountain biking. The houses were amazing as usual but I don't recommend taking 4 kids with you.
Saturday night we roasted marshmallows and chit chatted. This is the lovely Christin Buck that came to hang out. I love her and don't see enough of her!So nice to get away and have a good time! Thanks mom and dad for letting us come stay!

This little stink had her 1st birthday on Friday. I'm not the party throwing type but for her first birthday we couldn't resist.

Chad and I were so touched by all the people that came to celebrate with us. We had an easy dinner, talked and visited, and then watched Leighton open her presents and eat cake.We're missing 2 kids who had went home by this time but I'm so excited to get to watch all these little ones grow up. I think they're going to be a fun group.
Leighton is the kind of girl that I don't even put a bib on when I feed her because she's so clean. So I guess I'm not surprised that she was so careful as she ate her cake. She liked it and was very persistent with eating, but she was pretty clean. I think the only reason she has frosting on her is because uncle Jason helped her smear some on her forehead and chest.
My mom, dad, and grandma made the trip up from St. George. I never got picture of them at the party so I made them pose for me after church.

We just bought ourselves bikes off of the KSL classifieds. We went on our first ride this Saturday. The Provo River Trail is so close to our house so we got on that and rode down to Utah Lake. We also bought the baby one of those trailers so we can pull her and the dog behind. Chad is goal orientated and has decided he's going to start training for a triathlon. I'll just be happy if I build some muscle.

The best part of 2009 was of course the birth of our baby girl. It's made every single day something new and exciting.

We'll be celebrating her 1st birthday the end of this month... I can't believe it!

We spent Christmas in St George with my family. Most everyone was able to be there this year and we had a big family dinner at Pancho and Leftys. I don't like to be front and center but I was the one who knew how to run the self timer.

Christmas morning was exciting because we got to open presents with Leighton for her first time. She got some fun toys, clothes, and books.

I woke up Thanksgiving night with the worst stomach ache. 24 hours later it had spread like crazy to everyone we'd been in contact with. So pretty much we haven't left the couch all weekend.

Fortunately my parents had come to town for the BYU game and took good care of the baby.
Unfortunately we sent them home today with my poor mom puking her guts out.

Unfortunately Chad wasn't able to attend the football game because he was that sick.
Fortunately he was able to watch it on TV while Joe Durfey went in his place.

Unfortunately I have now had the Swine Flu and the stomach flu. I think I've been sick 20 out of 30 days in November.
Fortunately I think that means I'm good to go for the next year!

We officially have our tree up! In the 4 years that Chad and I have been married we've never put up a tree. I thought it was a hassle and didn't want 2. I still think it's a hassle but I figured I need to help make Christmas traditions and memories for Leighton (I know she can't remember yet).My favorite thing about this tree are the little ceramic hand painted ornaments that my grandma and aunt painted for me. There were so many of them and I can't even imagine how long it took them to finish them all. Definitely something that will be cherished for a long time.

We took a quick vacation to Thayne, Jackson, and Yellowstone. For some DUMB reason we didn't even bother to check the forecast. We got to enjoy lots of snow, wind, and rain. that we weren't prepared for. We did hit up a few of the must see sights on our trip and still got to see all the animals. The must have picture in Jackson Hole. The Spencers came with and kept us great company.This is a quick hike we took at Jenny Lake.

The cabin we were staying in was in kind of a wooded area on a golf course. There were lots of deer all over just eating the trees and bushes. One morning when we woke up this buck was just hanging out. I was excited to get pictures of him.

Leighton didn't want to pose for pictures. She wanted out! I'm just worried that one of these days I'm going to come in and find that she's thrown herself out and onto the floor. She is not the most patient.

Gran and Gramp Hatt are in town for the weekend and came bearing gifts. Leighton isn't much for moving around in her walker but this little toy had her walking from one side of the house to the other. She'd either run into the wall or the couch and then we'd have to turn her around.

We went to Strawberry for Labor Day and to celebrate birthdays. Chad did a really good job of making my birthday special. He made sure I had my favorite cake and he went in with our parents to get me a new camera to replace the one I lost a few weeks ago. The babies don't quite get how to play with each other yet but they are sure good at grabbing and poking at each other. They are lined up from youngest to oldest.

I spent an extended weekend in St George with Leighton and my family. We left Chad home because it was the opening of the bow hunt this weekend. I haven't done any decorating in the babies room at all so I took down a project to work on to brighten up her room. I did some modge podge on a magnet board and on a hair bow holder that I think turned out cute. We also went to lunch with all the girls in my family for my aunts birthday and of course went to the county fair.

Chad went hunting with a group of people. He was on his way home late Saturday night driving by himself with Joe and and Shawn up ahead. Chads cell service is horrible and of course his Xterra totally died and he got left up on the mountain. Luckily he had everything that he needed to spend the night safely but he said that he still froze. I think the worst part of his extra nights stay was running out of T.P. and having to make due.

My parents invited us to Park City to stay with them in a condo over the 24th of July. We had a really good time other than at night. It was sooo hot in our room that I felt like I was awake all night long. It's always nice to spend some quality time with the family. Having a dog is sometimes not the most convenient thing when you want to go out of town. We had the hardest time figuring out what to do with Cooper so that put a little damper on the trip. Thankfully John Shay let him stay at his house Friday and Saturday night. My mom and I did some good shopping at the Tanger Outlets. We got Leighton stocked up with 12 month clothes for winter. The other really great thing we did was go out to eat a lot. We discovered some awesome restaurants that we'd never eaten at before. Eating out is by far about my favorite thing to do.

I didn't take my camera out until the very last night so I don't have a whole lot of pics to share.

We took an extended weekend to St. George with our friends Jake, Jenny, and Jesse. We had such a good time. It was so hot. I think they had record tempatures. To beat the heat we did lot's of swimming and lot's of water volleyball. We also had an early morning tee time at my favorite course Red Hills. We went out to dinner at Iggys which is so much better in St George and did some BBQ'ing. I think it was a much needed getaway for all of us. Thanks guys for coming with us!

The 4th

We had an awesome 4th of July weekend. Jake and Jenny were die hard and saved us a shaded spot on the parade route. It was the first time Chad or I had ever been to it. We also went out on the lake. It didn't go quite as planned. We shut the boat off to pump up the tube and couldn't get it started again. So we sat out there for a few hours and had to get towed back in by Todd. We actually ended up still having a pretty good time. We went to Chilies after we all got cleaned up and didn't even have to wait! Of course after dinner we watched the fireworks and headed home exhausted.

We also have had my good friend Kelly out for a visit from Minnesota for the past 10 days. She just left today and we already miss her. She helped me out so much with babysitting and it was fun to have her here.

Don't worry Leighton did warm up to her very quickly.

I've hesitated feeding Leighton rice cereal this soon only because my Doctor said their little systems deal with it better closer to six months of age, but my parents are in town and I felt brave. She loved it! We couldn't get it in her mouth quick enough and she was basically trying to feed herself. She was a cute little mess.Chad surprised us with a new life jacket for the baby and also a carrier. We packed Leighton around the house in it for awhile to test it out.

My parents invited my little family to go along with them to California this year. We stayed in a cute little condo right on the beach. Some of the highlights of the trip were going to Sea World, the zoo, and the Wild Animal Park. My dad and I went to a Padres game where we had the best seats and had a lot of fun. There were some awesome outlets that we spent the day at. I've decided that buying baby clothes is an addiction. We also got to see some of our California relatives that we don't see often enough. Best of all Leighton and I got to hang out with my parents and my grandma.

I'm sure loving being a mom to this little girl! This Saturday we went on a 4 wheeling trip through Spanish Fork Canyon. The Gun Show? Actually these two both rolled their 4 wheelers and are showing you their cuts and scrapes.The clean up crew is all gone from our house and the toilets and water are working...thank goodness! For now we're left with some cut up walls and missing carpet until hopefully sometime next week.

This weekend has been one for the books. We blessed Leighton this weekend in our brand new ward. She wore my old blessing dress, and looked beautiful. Chad gave her a sweet blessing and I was really proud to be his wife. We had lot's of family and friends there to support us.

Now for the Hell part:

On Friday night our 1st floor toilet was acting up. I went and bought a plunger and it seemed to be a fix. Saturday there were more problems and we couldn't get a hold of the builder or the plumber. Mind you, we've been in this house not even 2 wks and it is brand new. So on Sunday after everyone had left we really started to find the problems. There was a ton of water in our crawl space and crap was literally in our utility closet. So we had the roto rooter guy come over at about 9pm. He saw the damage and called the water damage specialists to come over and clean stuff up. The roto rooter man couldn't fix the problem but he was guessing that our sewer line had somehow been crushed. So everyone comes back over the next morning and we stick a camera down our sewer line. Everything is totally clear until it gets to about 80 feet out and then it's just black and won't go any further. So that afternoon a backhoe shows up to dig out our front lawn. They dig and dig and finally discover that we are completely missing about 3ft of our sewer line. So basically everything we flush goes down so far and then ends up coming back up and overflowing into our house. The carpet in the front room has to be replaced as does the bottom 2 ft of dry wall in our living room and we feel like we're living in a war zone right now.

This is set up so that we aren't breathing in all of the chemicals and stuff they are using to clean and disinfect. I kind of feel like we're filming an episode of 24 at my house and we can't let the virus escape. The guys working on this were wearing actual suits and helmets for protection.

This was towards the beginning of the hold digging. Trust me the hole and mess got much bigger.

Here is the broken pipe. The fun part of all of this is that everyone has been billing us because it's our house and it's going to be our responsibility to collect all of the money from the who sold us the place.

We finally closed on our townhome!!! It was a long time coming and we couldn't be more excited.This is our mortgage broker and realtor. They both had to put in a lot of extra effort and we appreciate them for it.

For the most part we've just been trying to get settled in. It's been really fun getting stuff to decorate. Decorating is not my forte so we'll see how it all turns out.

I've been horrible at taking pictures lately but I'll just post a few of my faves really quick.

This past Tuesday Chads older sister Amanda and her two boys flew in from England. It's been way to long since we've seen them and we were excited for them to meet their new niece and cousin.

We were hoping to move into our new place this weekend so my parents had planned to come up and help. Unfortunately the moving part didn't happen but they decided to come up anyways.

Today Leighton is 2 months old. Time has flown by and I'm starting to have a hard time remembering life before her. We went to the Doctor for her well child check up. She is 10lbs even which puts her in the 29th percentile and is 23 1/2 inches tall which puts her in the 89th percentile. So pretty much long and skinny. She also got her shots which made for a long rest of the day. I'm pretty sure Chad and I haven't heard hear ever cry this much. She had some serious tears which pretty much broke our hearts.
In between the tears we found a few smiles.

Chad! On Saturday Chad and Heather Cole volunteered at some turkey banquet to get some easy dedicated hunter hours. At the end of the event they were doing a raffle for a bunch of prizes. Chad decided that he'd buy one $20 ticket. Lucky for him they drew his name and he won the grand prize!
He is excited because he's been wanting a gun safe for a long time. I'm excited because now we have a place to put his guns and bullets besides our closets.

The people buying our condo have officially closed on it. We are so excited to be moving into something else and to of been able to sell with the market being so saturated. Now the tough part seems to be finding something that we can both agree on to buy. We're staying in Utah County and are looking hard. Hopefully we find something soon because we're officially homeless.

I also started back to work last Friday. I only go in for 3 hours a day so it's not to bad.

Finally I have to post a few more pics of Leighton. She will be 6 weeks old this Thursday.

I took Leighton home to St. George with me so that all of my family could meet her. Of course they all thought she was as great as we do. I was a little nervous to travel with her by myself but she did really well. Here are a couple pictures of our trip down there.

While we were in St. George Chad jumped on the chance to go on a guys + 1 girl 4 wheeling trip. They went to Greenriver for the day and had so much fun.

Hopefully you're not all to sick of seeing pictures of our baby because I can't resist posting a few more recent ones. Last weekend our friend Shawna spent her Valentines evening taking pictures of Leighton and I just got the results in the mail.

Cooper has been such a sport in dealing with our new addition. I know he still feels a little neglected but I can tell he loves the baby.

First real bath

We decided to give this little thing her first real bath today. We had to change the water just 2 times because she decided to poop once and then pee another time. It took her mommy and daddy to hold her in place and wash her. We still need some practice.

Almost a week

Everyone says you'll be so tired after you have a baby. I was always like yeah yeah. I believed them but didn't comprehend how tired and exhausted you really get. I need my sleep to function and I haven't been getting nearly enough. Therefor my blog has been neglected. Leighton will be a week old tomorrow. She is eating like a champ and doing really good. Chad and I are loving having her here. I'm going to catch up on some pictures in this post so you can all see a little more of our sweetie.

The Birth Story

I went into my weekly Doctors appointment last Wed. to get my final check. He decided to send me for an ultrasound because my stomach was measuring small. The ultrasound techs went through the whole process and then told me to wait there. They came back in and had my Doctor on the phone who told me that my baby was measuring only 34 weeks and that we needed to have her today. He said to go home and get ready and head over to the hospital. I was freaking out and pretty scared because I didn't know what all of this meant. I called Chad and told him to come home from work and called my mom and told her to start heading up. Once we got to the hospital at 3pm on the 28th they calmed us down and hooked me up to everything to get the process rolling. It was a really long night of just waiting for the dialation process to happen. Every time they would turn up the pitocin Leightons heart rate would go all nuts so they'd have to turn it back down. Finally at 3am on the 29th I dilated to a 10. I pushed for an hour and a half when they finally called my doc and said that she was kind of stuck. He showed up at 5pm and decided that because of my bone structure the only way she was going to come out was by putting some suction cup on her head. At 5:27 am our little Leighton was born. They only expected her to weigh 5lbs at the most so were pretty excited when she came out at 6.7lbs. She had had a bowel movement while in my stomach so the NICU team had to be there to make sure everything was okay. It got a little intense at some moments but giving birth is the most amazing experience. I was able to share it with Chad, my mom, and grandma. Chad was so scared that he wasn't going to be able to handle it but he did so well and is such a proud dad.

I think we both look a little scared. Lot's of sleepingWhoops she had a little accident on Grandma.

Our little girl is here right on time! She was born January 29th at 5:27am weighing in at 6 lbs 7 ounces. She is 19 inches long with lot's of hair. She has a really proud daddy and mommy and grandparents on both sides that are excited as can be!
